a miscalculation.

On a family vacation to North Carolina, my cousin Matt and I had an unfortunate experience. We went floating down a mountain river in inner tubes. It took a few hours to make it to the end, but it is relaxing and worth it. Before we even got in the water, things went south. Matt and I both had our inner tubes around our torsos, held up by our arms. We both thought it would be an amazing idea to run as fast as possible towards each other and bounce off...because after all, we’ve got inner tubes on and they’ll protect us, right? Wrong. We neglected to calculate the dynamic of head whiplash upon impact, mixed with the height differential between the two of us. Matt’s nose landed right at my forehead hairline and next thing we know, there’s blood gushing out of his nose. He got it under control quick enough that it wasn’t until the retelling of the story at the end of the day that many people in our group realized what happened. So. I guess it wasn’t such a good idea after all.
